Pleasures of the Table Visits Founding Farmers

Pleasures of the Table blogger David Smelson noticed our rankings in the Washintonian’s Reader Reviews (thanks to David for not thinking we are overrated!) and decided to stop by to see for himself.  He has some great photos and even noticed that we do, in fact, make our own ginger ale. Come back soon, David, and try out Chef Melanie’s desserts!

Founding Farmers has Fans on “Bones”

Dr. Temperance Bones

Dr. 'Bones' Brennan

A few weeks ago we heard from a number of friends and guests that Founding Farmers had been mentioned on the TV show “Bones.”  Well, we searched the net and went to the “Bones” web site and could only find clips and previews of an episode called “A Night at the Bones Museum.”  Well, since the show is set in DC, and we’ve got more museums with bones than any other city in the world, of course Dr. Temperance ‘Bones’ Brennan would be on a date at one of DC’s hottest restaurants!   We were thrilled.

The truth is that they didn’t actually film at the restaurant, and they didn’t actually say “Founding Farmers”, but they said “Founding Fathers,” which is pretty close – and if anyone that watched it thinks it was our restaurant, we don’t mind!   Catch the “Founding Farmers” Bones episode online, and then come down to the restaurant and see the real thing!

Founding Farmers in Dining Green Video

Dan Simons on PlanetForwardGWUMadeline Twomey and Juliette Dallas-Feeney sat with Dan Simons recently to talk about going green in the restaurant business. The George Washington University students are part of a reporting class that uses advanced multimedia platforms to create stories about sustainability and going green. The two spent some time in the restaurant filming the interiors, our recycling and composting separation system, our in-house water superfiltration system, and of course, spent some time checking out our food!   Check out the video, Serving Up a Platter of Green, after the break.   Great job Madeline and Juliette!
