50 States, 50 Breakfasts – Founding Farmers Wins in The District!

The July/August issue of Food Network Magazine names the best breakfast in every state. Our Fried Chicken, Eggs and Waffles took first prize on the Washington, D.C. leg of the cross-country breakfast road trip. This dish received top marks for being “as eco-friendly as it is delicious.” Founding Farmers uses free-range chicken and eggs, whole wheat flour and antibiotic-free cream and butter to make this popular meal.

We are proud to be recognized alongside some of the tastiest hotcakes, scrambles, grits, waffles, pastries and frittatas in the country.

Howdy, Neighbor! Communal Dining @ FF

Cypress tree communal table at FF

Communal dining – like farm families do – is a somewhat new trend as profiled by the Express Night Out guide today, but at Founding Farmers, it’s how we came up with the idea for the restaurant – sitting around a big, long table, with farmers, of course!

In farmhouses all over, there is usually a long wooden table that lots of folks can gather around, communal-style.  In the modern farmhouse setting at Founding Farmers – replete with barnwoods – communal tables are perfect to share a meal with friends, acquaintances and maybe even strangers that can become more than friends…

Book a communal table now – and look forward to some farmhouse dining!

Founding Farmers has Fans on “Bones”

    Dr. Temperance Bones

    Dr. 'Bones' Brennan

A few weeks ago we heard from a number of friends and guests that Founding Farmers had been mentioned on the TV show “Bones.”  Well, we searched the net and went to the “Bones” web site and could only find clips and previews of an episode called “A Night at the Bones Museum.”  Well, since the show is set in DC, and we’ve got more museums with bones than any other city in the world, of course Dr. Temperance ‘Bones’ Brennan would be on a date at one of DC’s hottest restaurants!   We were thrilled.

The truth is that they didn’t actually film at the restaurant, and they didn’t actually say “Founding Farmers”, but they said “Founding Fathers,” which is pretty close – and if anyone that watched it thinks it was our restaurant, we don’t mind!   Catch the “Founding Farmers” Bones episode online, and then come down to the restaurant and see the real thing!
