Just in time for this scorching July weekend, EatMore DrinkMore convinced our chief mixologist, Jon Arroyo, to provide the recipe for our Organic Cucumber Cocktail. Enjoy!

The second time around was a charm for Founding Farmers at last night’s RAMMY Awards ceremony. We’ve been a finalist in the Beverage/Mixology Program category for two years running now, and Executive Bar Chef Jon Arroyo was all smiles as he accepted the 2011 award last night. (That’s him pictured below with a few good friends from the marketing team.) Congratulations, Jon! And kudos to all of the RAMMY winners — see the complete list at the RAMW website.

Express Night Out had a great writeup yesterday of the finalists in this year’s Mixology/Beverage Program of the Year finalists for the 2011 RAMMY Awards, including Founding Farmers. And hey, who’s that featured at the top of the article? Our very own Jon Arroyo, whose custom cocktail for the RAMMYs, the Citros Gengibre, is available for your drinking pleasure now through June 20. Nice photo, Jon!

Founding Farmers is pleased as Pisco Punch to say that we’ve been named as a finalist in the 2011 RAMMYS Mixology/Beverage Program. All credit goes to Executive Bar Chef Jon Arroyo, whose creativity and vision behind the bar have put us in the running for a RAMMY award in this category for the second year in a row.
Beginning today, and continuing through June 20, he’ll be serving a special off-menu concoction: The Citros Gengibre, a tasty mix of Tres Generations Tequila, house-made ginger beer, grapefruit bitters and juice, and other tidbits. Be sure to ask your server or bartender for it by name. Along with the drink you’ll have the opportunity to vote for the cocktail as a “fan favorite” in the 2011 RAMMYS. You’ll also be entered into a drawing for two tickets to attend the awards ceremony, which takes place on Sunday, June 26. Bottoms up!
Founding Farmers is to proud to be recognized among Washington’s best in burgers and libations this February. Winner of AOL City Guide for Best Cocktail in DC, Founding Farmers was featured among such famous local institutions like Ben’s Chill Bowl and the Old Ebbitt Grill. Our delectable Frisco Burger was also the recipient of FAN 106.7′s Battle of the Beltway Burger. On February 13th, Parker and Parker crowned Founding Farmers on air as the ultimate DC burger after a long and fierce competition against Elevation Burger and Urban Burger. Just another reason to get down to Foggy Bottom this winter and explore our award winning menu!
This Sunday, Chief Mixologist Jon Arroyo will take on five other top Washington mixologists in a cocktail combat. Contestants will have 20 minutes to concoct a drink using Jefferson’s signature bourbon.
Battlegrounds are in the Jefferson Hotel Quill Lounge. Tickets to the event are $50 and include passed cocktails and snacks beginning at 2:00 pm. At 3:00 pm, the battle begins, guests will sample the goods, and only one mixologist will reign supreme. Good luck, Jon!

Herb-crusted rotisserie chicken paired with the Dolores Dulces cocktail, a soon-to-be menu feature
Founding Farmers is one of just five restaurants to be showcased at the inaugural prelude event to the International Wine & Food Festival in February. On November 30, Chief Mixologist Jon Arroyo and Executive Chef Al Nappo will team up at Spirit of the Festival and use Patron XO Café to create a unique cocktail and food pairing. This week, the duo gave DC food journalists and bloggers a first taste of the pairing.
The Dolores Dulces cocktail features Patron XO Café, cognac, cherry brandy, egg white and a garnish of fresh grated nutmeg. The rich and delicious concoction pairs nicely with Chef’s herb-crusted rotisserie chicken with Maryland kale, cabbage and pears sautéed in Patron XO Café. Founding Farmers will feature the Dolores Dulces for a limited time after the competition.
